I love my computer
I know, we all love our computers. If you hadn’t thought about it, you better hug and kiss it now.
So my laptop had been dead for months now, because the power adapter mysteriously stopped working. I bought a new one and in about a week it stopped working too. I was sooo upset. Being broke and all, I didn’t have the money to get yet another power adapter. My laptop was sleeping for a long time, until yesterday, when they new adapter arrived in the mail.
This time I plugged it directly to the power outlet. The last two I had were connected to one of those multiplug outlets, and that to an extension cord, then that to another multiplug outlet, then that yet another multiplug outlet, and then the wall. I guess that kills power adapters.
So I turned it on and I couldn’t believe my eyes. The shiny screen, the welcome screen, my cute wallpaper. It was all there like I left it months ago. I learned to love it and appreciate it, just yesterday.
All this time has been very difficult without it. I had to struggle with my family to use the desktop computer when I had to do work for a class or when I simply wanted to browse blogs and update mine. But not anymore, I hope. Now I can do all my work (and slacking off) directly from my bed or anywhere I want.
I hope this never happens to you. You know, the not having computer part, not the getting back computer thing. We’re so lucky to have them.
I’m so happy. *hugs laptop*

I used a shared computer for most of 2007, and let me tell you, it was a struggle! The first thing I did upon returning home was buy my laptop, and we’ve been inseparable ever since!! :D
I’m glad it’s working for you now! :) My old laptop was seriously messed up. I had to send it in for repairs. Those two weeks without it were rough.
I’ve never had a laptop, so I don’t quite know the ecstasy of revisiting one after a long period of time. However, I very clearly remember the heartbreak of losing the life of my beloved first iPod, and the subsequent joy of getting my second. Yay for technology!
Also, that crazy extension cord setup sounds dangerous! Be careful - if you have too many of those power strips plugged into power strips thing it can be a fire hazard (or so I’ve been told).
I’m thinking I may need to get a new adapter, too. It just doesn’t seem to be functioning as well anymore. Or maybe it’s my laptop. While I certainly do love my laptop, I love my desktop even more. I don’t know what I’d do if it just died on me. Glad to hear your laptop is back to life! :)
Aww, I would have taken the adapter that shit itself within the week back, demanded a refund and saved money xD
I hate it when my computer gets taken away from me..I hug and kiss my computer all the time..in my mind of course. My family would look at me like I’m delirious if I did that physically *coughs* When they aren’t around its a different story..*shifty eyes* Yeah, I’m a freak xD
So glad your laptop is working again!! :D
Awww, I’m happy for you. I can’t imagine having to go a DAY without my laptop (her name is Veronica Mars, haha) =)
I so want a laptop! But for now I’m happy with my desktop, even though I can’t stay in bed when I want to do something with it :(
Yay for a functioning laptop!
My computer is a pretty big part of my life. I don’t want to jinx it, but I’ve been with my laptop for two years now (or more), and it hasn’t failed me yet! =D I don’t have a desktop anymore, but I remember the first time I had to go without it — I felt like a crack-head going cold turkey at a rehab — I was going insane!! I hope I never have to go through that again. And I hope your new power adapter lasts a lifetime =P
Oh God, I couldn’t imagine living without my computer. My idea of hell is a world where I can’t access my computer. *shudder* I’m really happy for you that it’s working now =) *cheers*
Btw, I added your link to my blogroll and my subscriptions. I hope you don’t mind … if you do, just let me know, and I’ll remove your link. =)
It is a nightmare isn’t it? When I stayed at my relatives’ house during the first semester, it was crazy. I needed to use the computer for my site and work…and whatever else. Mid-December I got my own and it’s been a blessing since. No more sharing. Not to sound greedy or selfish, of course. :P
Glad you got your computer back! The exact same thing happened to me: the power adapter or charger or whatever broke, the laptop died, and I didn’t get a new one for like…months. (Not a new laptop, a new charger.) I nearly died. The desktop computer is old, slow, and the screen is colored differently; any layouts I put up were a different color on other computers!
I was so happy when I got my laptop back, I’m not joking, I named it Teddy. x]
