Guess who’s back
I could just waltz in and pretend that I haven’t been away from internetworld for the part two weeks, but damn, I missed it and I must say that not having Internet sucks. I was looking forward to starting work again (today) only because there’s Internet access here. I’m sick, I know.
I recently moved to another city and things have been crazy ever since. I still don’t have Internet service at home but hopefully it will be installed this Friday. My two email inboxes had actual emails in them, about thirty in total. It’s true that about fifteen were newsletters that are automatically sent to a billion involuntary subscribers, but even that is rare in my email’s inbox.
What I liked the most is that they also had real emails, you know, those that are written for you and with you in mind. One of those emails was from a professor, with an offer to be a tutor for molecular genetics this semester… but guess what, it’s too late to accept the offer. If only I had seen the message when she sent it aeons ago. Maybe next time.
So, I didn’t move too far away from where I originally lived - but it feels so different! I’m still having trouble getting used to my new room, the new shower, the new kitchen, the people… hell, with everything! Something particularly different is my morning routine, which now includes waking up significantly earlier because I have to take my sisters to school, then take a huge traffic jam on a road that has the angry rising sun right in my face, get to the train station to find every time that the parking lot is already full, and then having to park at the nearest mall, and then walking all the way to the station only to find the train already jammed with students and fancy schmancy business people. Ok, that sentence was very long and tiring. But that’s just how my mornings feel. Long and tiring.
The train ride is probably the part I like the most. I used to think that the train was stupid and the only good use it had was giving people cool fast rides like a horizontal roller coaster, taking them from nowhere to some other nowhere. Now after taking it for three days straight to go to uni and back home (because there isn’t any other reasonable way to do it), I’ve realized two things: 1) It’s hella expensive! If you ride it every weekday, it’s $15 - Who in their right mind pays $15 a week for 15-minute train rides? Well, someone who needs to get to the other side, of course. It’s only been three days and it already got me broke. Moving on, 2) it’s fun. I see different people everyday, and I noticed businessmen can be so hot. With their suitcases and their ties and their PDAs, riding the train to work.
Well, this entry is getting really long and incoherent, so I’ll stop rambling now. But I hadn’t posted a blog entry in so long that my head was about to explode with all these things and the feeling that I need to tell someone.
Oh, and before I go… what the hell is up with this heat!? I don’t remember a summer this hot ever in my entire life. Not that I remember things for a long time anyway.
So yeah, I guess I’m back to internetworld. And I’m almost done with a new layout for this site.

Welcome back! I often ride the bus, but it’s free to ride if you’re a university student, so I guess I’m lucky. I do know that these things can get really expensive, though. Are you going to keep riding or are you going to find another way?
Yikes, the fact that you have to drive to the train station is kind of icky, and the fact that the parking lot is always full is even ickier. :(
Yay, you’re back! A new environment is pretty hard to get used to; every time I move, it’s always only about 10 to 15 minutes away from my old house, but I still find it really hard to adjust.
You’re back!! I missed you!! *hugs* =P
Silly Lene… the train is the shiznit! The insane heat, on the other hand, is driving me CRAZY!! It’s that kind of humid heat that leaves you feeling useless. It’s especially bad after one of those afternoon drizzles! Yuck =(
OMG Lene, you hit it on the spot! YES, BUSINESSMEN ARE HOT. That is what I’ve been telling my girlfriends for EONS, but nooooo, nobody listens to me!!! == And now, do you see, Lene, do you see?!?!?!!? THEY REALLY ARE HOT!! I WAS RIGHT ALL ALOOONGGG!!!!
*collapses from sugar high*
Hmmm. I must admit, I do check out guys in the train LOL. It’s funny because sometimes, I recognize customers from work riding the same train as me. It’s kinda freaky haaahahaha.
And can’t you get like a train pass or something that would let you save up money?
Good luck with adjusting and getting used to your new house! Hopefully you’ll be reconnected with the intarwebs soon enough! :D
Congratulations on the move and welcome back! I have to admit, I’m not particularly fond of riding public transportation which is why I definitely need to get on the ball and learn how to drive, soon. Sometimes I just cannot stand having to ride with so many children/teenagers because they be quite loud and obnoxious at times. Fifteen bucks a week isn’t that bad compared to how it is over here. Well, here, you can get a weekly pass for about 21 bucks for the whole week. But it’s unlimited so, I guess that’s okay if you don’t drive.
I’m sorry about your mornings :( I hate bad mornings so I’m glad I work from noon to nine. I hate my job, though.
And holy wow, a $15 15-minute train ride?! I used to take two trains to get to and fro work and webdesign school before and save for the crowds, I liked it cos it was cheap and I could completely avoid traffic.
