Minuscule Swan
This is probably one of my first attempts to write anything “poetic” in English. It is an experiment with perspective and not supposed to be anything fancy in terms of verse structure.
I liked to stand close enough to silently see you
But far away enough for you not to notice
That I incessantly watched you with such obsession
You might have frightened if you knew
That in a dark soggy corner I’d settle
Until you showed up and started to dance
Gracefully prancing you went by, so charming;
Disregarding gravity you flew, what a style;
Irradiating perfection you moved
Breaking the wind, pounding the ground
Twirling and spreading your fictional wings
As you sealed with glory the sky you danced through.
The dancing ceases and waterfalls stop,
The grasshoppers and the white roses melt down
As nature inevitably fades away
And my divine swan, you my slender air dancer
Are just a regular man dressed for ballet.
Minute dancer, figurine of sinister impossibility
Why don’t you notice I’ve been here?
That I have been exploring your ways
Don’t see me, don’t look. Hey, I’m over here,
You minuscule swan of infeasibility,
You sky-high, unreachable swan full of grace!
Dancing resumes and dazzling heaven emerges
Butterflies flutter over and ’round a newly born rainbow
When you dance you are so beautiful, astonishing: cruel!
Here I just wish to have you, to dash through the sun rays with you!
Your immense wings in the vertex of your back make me
Helplessly lost in your perversion. I simply daydreamed I could soar.
I passively stand, contain and watch,
Witnessing you and your tiny dance
And I wish to come out, and I desire to be with you
But you are an impossible train of prohibition
I must not get close, I don’t have a chance
And yet, I want you so much, I love you, white swan.
The dancing ceases and waterfalls stop
Mountains dissolve into soil
The grasshoppers and the white roses melt down
Your wings and all nature inevitably fade away
And my swan, you my minute dancer still don’t look at me
And just stood exhausted in a mat for ballet.
